
The food and canned goods industry is one of the most demanding in terms of marking and coding. Every product must display an expiry date or best-before date (TMC), production batch, net weight, allergens, and, for many categories, a barcode or QR code. EU Regulation 1169/2011 sets requirements for readability and completeness of information, making reliable and verifiable marking systems essential. Packaging materials vary widely—glass, plastic, metal, film, cardboard, and even eggs—and each requires specific technologies. System reliability is critical: a printing error can lead to costly product recalls.
